Almost a century ago psychiatrist Alfred Adler suggested that birth order might contribute to personality. He identified birth order personalities as oldest, middle and youngest child. These categories created a box within which researchers have explored since then. These studies to establish the effects of birth order on personality have met with minimum success.
Almost 40 years ago I was able to step outside the box to discover that there are five personalities in birth order. My clients recognized their personalities and corrected me whenever I was wrong, making me refine my concept of birth order. This concept of birth order grew in scope and detail over the years until it has reached the proportions found in this website, my blog and in my books.
